THE DT'S "DIRTY JACK" 7" SINGLE OUT NOW!
Bellingham's hard soul comrades have successfully completed their mission of layering jaw grinding rock and roll onto a new little black, wax circle. On the A side's "Dirty Jack," Dave Crider rescues Drop-D guitar tuning from the bowels of nu-metal horse shit and brings it back to the safe haven of filthy blues all while main howler Diana Young-Blanchard rolls over the riffery on a locomotive infused with Tina Turner mojo. The rhythm section's Mikey Funster and Zed bolster the Cobra's "Restless" on the B side with relentless poundin' and thumpin'. Limited Edition of 300 copies on Five-Five Hole Records. Artwork by Derek Vander Grind.

REVIEW OF OUR GOD DAMN WORLD SINGLE FROM ROCK AND ROLL ARMY WEBZINE (SPAIN)
The DT's - "God Damn World" (Pure Vinyl 2010)

Live Hot Nasty – The Dt´s (SRCD 029 | Scatter Records, 2010 | N° Catalogo: 2736290)

The Dt's tiene disco nuevo por Scatter Records. "Live Hot Nasty" es hard'n soul rabioso grabado en vivo. Masterizao por Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, The Briefs, The Makers, etc.)-

THE DT’S - HIGH DIVE - SEATTLE - SAT. 4.19 - EARLY SHOW - 9:30PM
Yeah - Huh, the Dt's are gonna be playing an EARLY set (9:30PM) at the HIGH DIVE in SEATTLE this coming SATURDAY, APRIL 19th - that's tomorrow night, jocko and it's gonna be a full on throw down of rock n roll jacknifin' with Iceage Cobra and The Valley - again we are hitting the stage early at 9:30PM, so do plan accordingly - here's a preview of the show from this week's Stranger:

The Stranger Up & Coming
This Week's Notable Shows and Parties

SATURDAY 4/19
The Valley, Iceage Cobra, the DT's
(High Dive)
The DT's are Bellingham's garage/soul band that fans of Thee Emergency probably already know about, not to mention the rock-loving denizens of Spain, Portugal, and parts of South America (not kidding). The DT's do not fuck around with unnecessaries. Featuring the head of Estrus Records and ex-Mono Man Dave Crider on guitar, the band understand dynamics verses tension, value the cowbell, and know how to play their instruments well enough to do so while drunk. Rock comes grinding out against Diana Young-Blanchard's raw vocals, which channel Janis Joplin in delivery and tone. The Valley and Iceage Cobra, both performers you do not trifle with, will have their work cut out for them tonight. MATT GARMAN

THE DT'S - WITH SILVER LIONS 20/20 (EX ILCK & DEXATEENS) - FRIDAY - 2.1 - BOUNDARY BAY - BELLINGHAM
Well, Alright! ...we Dt's are set to throw it down n' dirty this FRIDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 1ST at the Boundary Bay Brewery here in Bellingham - thats right, Slappy, that's THIS friggin' Friday night! The show starts at 10:30PM with a $3 cover AND joining us - all the way from Hitsville, USA (aka Nashville, TN) - will be the mighty, mighty SILVER LION'S 20/20 featuring ex ILCK stomper Chet W. and ex Dexateens thumper Craig P. - this is the duo's first sojourn to the pacific NW and if'n you ever caught either of these cats "ex" bands when they rolled thru this way in the past than you have witnessed the serious punk - blues - twang - howl these two are capable of separately, but together? Well, hot damn and a side o' spam, best hold onto your panties Missy Martha, cause The Silver Lions 20/20 lay down some of the most serious raw n' roughed up sleazy blues punk house rockin get down there be - PERIOD!

JANUARY 18, 2008
THE DT’S - SAT 1.19 - ROGUE HERO - WITH THE VALLEY AND SKULLBOT
Heads up Horatio, the Dt's will be playing this coming Saturday night, January 19th at the Rogue Hero here in Bellingham - with Seattle lord's o' loud, The Valley, and the equally loud n' proud Stanwoodians, Skullbot! - both bands have been getting mucho much deserved praise down south sound way and neither of'em make it to Bellingham that often, in fact this is Skullbots first show here in town - We realize it's a busy night with lotsa other shows happening but you'll be regretting it if you miss this one! We'll be playing a good part of the set we worked out for the I LOVE LED ZEPPELIN show that was abruptly cancelled by the Nightlight back in December AND will have copies of the newly released South American version of Filthy Habits on hand to boot - Yes, Yes and YES! A wee bit of thee no thou, Unfortunately our Freedom 7" single has been delayed as the only remaining vinyl pressing plant in South America has closed it's doors - the Monstro crew are searching for another plant to finish the job - and speaking of Monstro, our shows at both the 13 Goiania Noise Festival and Contacto Festivals in Brazil were awesome - we''ve posted some photos from both shows on our myspace page (link here) and you can check out some youtube action of part of our set from the NoiseFest here:

Song of the Day: The DTs - Freedom
May 11th, 2007

Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. The podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Today's featured selection, chosen by Afternoon Show host Kevin Cole, is by The DT's and is found on their 2007 album Filthy Habits released on Get Hip:

Begun by long-time friends Diana Young-Blanchard and Dave Crider, The DT's create a sound they call "hard soul," a combination of 70s rock and late 60s soul. Also evident in the Bellingham band's sound are the sharp edges of Northwest punk. In fact, the band's name is actually a reference to the early Portland punkers The Wipers, rather than a drink-inflicted condition. Added to to Young-Blanchad's soulful lyrics and Crider's cruching guitar riffs are the powerful rhythms of drummer Phil Carter and the jazzy keyboards of Patti Bel, altogether creating a sweaty, stomping, explosive sound. More information about The DT's and this video can be found on their MySpace page:

“Filthy Beasts”: NW Garage Legends the Dt’s Do Seattle, Europe

Fred Mills
March 1, 2007

Garage terrorists the Dt’s will be heading off to Europe in April for a short tour, but meanwhile the Bellingham, Wash., combo makes a special appearance at Seattle’s Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery, in conjunction with Fantagraphics’ neighbor Georgetown Records (both located at 1201 S. Vale Street).

Saturday, March 10 is the date, and from 6 until 8 p.m. the Dt’s will be indelibly mixing low art with high—that would be the band’s dirty-ass garage/punk/soul stylings plus artist Jim Blanchard’s visual exhibition in the bookstore.

Blanchard recently published his Fantagraphics book Beasts and Priests and will be on hand for a signing. Check the current (March) issue of HARP for a feature on Fantagraphics and its Bookstore/Gallery. The event is being billed as “Filthy Beasts.”

Meanwhile, the Dt’s latest album, Filthy Habits, was just released by Get Hip (it comes on the heels of 2004’s Hard Fixed and 2006’s Nice ‘N’ Ruff: Hard Soul Hits, Vol.1). Produced by Johnny Sangster and Jack Endino, Filthy Habits lives up to its title, swaggering and staggering from a combination of Stooges-like grittiness and Bellrays-meets-Janis Joplin hi-octane soul. The band comprises guitarist Dave Crider, vocalist Diana Young-Blanchard and the take-no-prisoners rhythm section of Scott Green and Phil Carter.

As the band’s label puts it, "Filthy Habits kicks off raw and gritty, tough and pretty with "April Holeso", and that intensity never lets up. "Turn Loose" is an out and out four on the floor rocker, "Red Eye" and "Crowfinger" are dangerous slow burners (but the heat is kept on high) and "Sweet Words" adds some sweet Stax-style keyboard infused groove to the mix, while the instrumental "Star Time" plays it like a James Brown future shock show entrance jam. Diana Young-Blanchard's voice is strong, sexy and soulful (imagine Tina Turner & Bon Scott's most pissed off bastard love child in heat), and her performance on this album is nothing short of epic. More proof positive as to why she was named one of the best voices in rock by Spain’s Popular One magazine. Dave Crider's guitar (of Mono Men & Estrus Records fame) hits like a brazen bare knuckled streetfighter on a late night Beale Street gin binge, while rhythm-men Scott Greene and Phil Carter keep time like two meth-soaked metronomes… The third installment in the Dt's ongoing testimonial of rock n' soul snakebite. Filthy Habits ? Yeah, the Dt's got'em … and bad never sounded so good.”

Dt’s Tour Dates:

March

10th Fantagraphics Bookstore/Georgetown Records Seattle , WA

April - Spain:

7th Ponferrada. Freakland Festival.
9th Vigo. La Fábrica de Chocolate.
10th Gijón. Savoy Club.
11th Madrid . Sala La Boite.
12th Burgos. Sala Carmen 13.
13th Alicante . Sala Stereo.
14th Vitoria- Gasteiz. Helldorado. + NIKKI CORVETTE.

and here's the press release about the FILTHY BEASTS show from Georgetown Records / Fantagraphics:

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery and Georgetown Records Present “Filthy Beasts,” featuring music by the Dt’s and art by Jim Blanchard on March 10

Please join us on Saturday, March 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM as Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery, in association with Georgetown Records, host an evening of fine art and raucous rock n roll. “Filthy Beasts” combines the CD release of the Dt’s “Filthy Habits” recording on the Get Hip label with an exhibition and signing of Jim Blanchard’s “Beasts and Priests” title on Seattle’s Fantagraphics Books imprint. This festive event is free to the public of all ages. Georgetown Records and Fantagraphics Bookstore are located at 1201 S. Vale. St., at the corner of S. Vale and Airport Way S. in the heart of the Seattle’s historic Georgetown district.

The Bellingham-based Dt’s seamlessly blend elements of hard soul, garage rock and raw punk to create an energetic and accessible sound. The team of Johnny Sangster and Jack Endino, two of the primary architects of the ubiquitous “Seattle Sound” of the 1990s, produced “Filthy Habits.” This is the Dt’s second long player on Get Hip. Dt’s guitarist Dave Crider is the proprietor of the Estrus record label, who together with renowned graphic designer Art Chantry created a collection of stunning garage-influenced LPs throughout the past decade. Chantry contributed the introduction to Blanchard’s “Beasts and Priests” book, and designed an exquisite poster for this event. The Dt’s will perform material from their new release, which will be available on both CD and vinyl.

Jim Blanchard, whose lovely wife Diana is the Dt’s vocalist, has punk rock credentials that date back to the early 80s, when he self-published the influential fanzine “Blatch.” He has since contributed finely crafted illustrations to countless books and magazines, in addition to several comic books and related works published by Fantagraphics Books, including “Bad Meat,” “Glam Warp,” “Trucker Fags in Denial,” and most recently “Beasts and Priests.” His meticulously rendered portraits of famous and infamous American pop culture personalities are infused with both dramatic reverence and ironic curiosity. Chantry concludes his preface to “Beasts and Priests” with the declaration, ”Jim Blanchard is a master.” The exhibition of Blanchard’s original artwork from “Beasts and Priests” continues through March 21 at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery.

DT'S FILTHY HABITS CD OUT 1.30.07 - NEW TRACK POSTED
Our new full length release, FILTHY HABITS, will be out at the end of this month and we have posted a new track from this slab for you to check out on our MySpace page, dig it! Here's some verbage about the upcoming cd:

THE DT'S "FILTHY HABITS" (GET HIP) release date January 30th, 2007
the Dt's have damn near perfected the art of the tuff & tight soul-charged record that leaves you wantin' more. "Filthy Habits" is the latest ten track dose of dirty rock n' soul shakedowns from Bellingham, Washington's hard soul hitsquad, the Dt's. This is the band's third full length, the second of all original material, and it combines all the best elements of their first two releases: all the hard soul get down of last year"s "Nice 'N' Ruff", and all the hot n' sweaty hard rock energy of their debut slab, "Hard Fixed." "Filthy Habits" raises the bar with a swagger and a smile… Raw Power meets Soul Power, Baby! Recorded at MARS Studios with knob-kings Captain Jack Endino (who recorded "Nice "N' Ruff") and Johnny Sangster (Mudhoney, Gas Huffer, The Briefs, The Makers) the Dt's stalked out with ten electrifying new tracks, thirty-two minutes of hip-shakin' hard soul satisfaction supreme. "Filthy Habits" kicks off raw and gritty, tough and pretty with "April Holeso", and that intensity never lets up. More proof positive as to why she was named one of the best voices in rock by Spains Popular One magazine. Dave Crider's guitar (of Mono Men & Estrus Records fame) hits like a brazen bare knuckled streetfighter on a late night Beale Street gin binge, while rhythm-men Scott Greene and Phil Carter keep time like two meth-soaked metronomes. "Hard Fixed", "Nice 'N' Ruff", and now the Dt's are back with "Filthy Habits", the third installment in the Dt's ongoing testimonial of rock n' soul snakebite. Filthy Habits? Yeah, the Dt's got'em …and bad never sounded so good.

GOODBYE MY FRIEND...
our friends and label mates, DMBQ, were involved in a tragic auto accident this past friday while on their way to a show in Brooklyn, NY. China Nishiura was killed. The rest of the band and their tour manager sustained injuries but are ok.

China was one of the most talented musicians and kindest souls I have met. Her enthusiasm and pure joy regarding music will continue to inspire.

Thank you, China...you will be missed.
